Menifee Jail Is Closed
The central fact is easy to miss. A 2024 Kentucky Association of Counties presentation labels the Menifee jail closed. Menifee County still remains responsible for prisoners and transport arrangements, but the research found no operating jail building, public lobby, local release door, or Menifee roster. Commercial directory addresses do not change that official finding.
The same legislative snapshot, dated July 25, 2024, counted 38 county-responsible prisoners spread among Rowan, Montgomery, Powell, and Lee County through Three Forks. It also listed four different daily rates. Those figures describe that date, not a present head count or guaranteed contract term. They show why a person connected with a Menifee case may appear outside the county.
The Kentucky Department for Local Government listing identifies elected Jailer Eddie Maze and provides a phone number. The listing supports a local contact, not an onsite jail operation.
Menifee Release Custody Network
A local arrest can lead to a Menifee District Court appearance while confinement occurs elsewhere. The housing jail creates the booking, custody, transfer, and release entries. The Menifee Circuit Clerk keeps the court file. A Menifee agency may separately keep arrest, warrant, payment, commitment, or transport material.

Placement may change with bed space, classification, cost, or a new legal authority. An entry disappearing from one JailTracker can mean transfer, not release. Search all four when the location is uncertain.
Confirm a Menifee Release
Start with the actual custodian and keep the custody episode tied to a name, booking date, and case. The four public JailTrackers show current custody. None was verified as a Menifee recent-release archive. A miss is only a lead.

VINE may give a release date when it reports that a person is not in custody. It is not a certified record. A court order may authorize release but does not prove the exact time the jail processed the exit. Agreement among the housing jail, VINE, and court provides stronger confirmation.
Request Menifee Release Records
Under KRS 61.872, a Kentucky resident may request existing local or state agency records. For jail material, send the request to the facility that maintained the booking. Ask for the booking or commitment record and the entry showing the date, time, type or authority of release or transfer, destination if recorded, and booking photograph. Each contractor held part of the county-responsible population, and each housing facility remains the first source for its own physical custody event.
The arrangement also affects travel. Legislative task-force minutes described the trip to Lee County as about one hour. No official release time, exit door, waiting place, property-return policy, public transit route, or weekend schedule was found for a Menifee release. Identify the actual jail and call before making pickup plans. Facility arrangements and contacts should be rechecked because the legislative evidence is dated.

Menifee Record Visibility Limits
A result can disappear for reasons unrelated to release. Spelling, delay, transfer, or searching the wrong contractor may hide a booking. Sealed, juvenile, or expunged material can also be unavailable. A qualifying expungement order can reach affected agencies and a local jail. Missing public data is not proof that custody never occurred.
Useful fields include identity and booking numbers, arresting agency, booking time, court number, bond, releasing authority, release type, effective date and time, destination, and photograph. Not every contractor keeps or discloses each field. Ask for existing records and invite redaction.
